Patinaai Osim is a term Maasai women use to mean “endearment”. It is preserved for those they love, it means “the one who brings me joy” just like we strive to do for our indigenous communities. Their passion and love comes from each bead they sow and every thread. To not just make a beautiful bride but make a better life for their offspring. With their blessing, we advocate for their rights and walk every step to empower them and show them they are just like the bird that builds beside their Manyatta, single but powerful.

I am Justine, a proud parent at Noosidan Primary School, and my 9-year-old son, who is in grade three, has been a beneficiary of the Tarl program at the school. I am happy to report that since joining the program in March 2022, my son has made significant progress in both his academic and social development. Before joining the program, my son was struggling in word level and had difficulty reading and forming simple sentences. He was also very shy in class and at home, and couldn't perform any activities with other children. However, in July 2022, I noticed positive changes in his behavior. One evening, he called other children at home to play together, and he even sang the Sabina!!Sabina!! song they learned in the Tarl remedial classes. This song helps learners form simple words and do simple arithmetic. I was amazed at his newfound confidence and liveliness at home. I also saw him lead the Sunday school choir at our church, which made me very happy and proud. During a parental engagement meeting, I shared the importance of the Tarl program with other parents and encouraged them to create time and space for their children to read at home. I truly believe that this program has had a positive impact on my son's life and development, and I am grateful to the organization for providing this opportunity.

My name is Mark, and I am an 11-year-old boy in grade four at Isara Primary School. When the TaRL classes started at our school, I was assessed at the word level for reading. I attended the TaRL sessions regularly, and during the next assessment, I could read paragraphs and was moved up to the next level. I attended a total of 15 hours of TaRL classes, and during the last assessment, I was at the story level, where I could read, write, and tell a story. Thanks to TaRL, I have improved my reading fluency and comprehension, which was evident during the last CBC assessments. My teacher is pleased with my progress, and I am happy to be performing well in class. I have also gained confidence in speaking English and can communicate with my fellow learners and teachers confidently. My parents and teachers are delighted with my progress and how TaRL has helped me. I am now reading several books from the library, and I look forward to attending more TaRL sessions to continue improving my reading and writing skills.

The learning materials provided by Patinaai Osim have been essential to our learners; as i have seen learners moving from the word level to story level.
